Founded in 2012 by husband and wife team, Troy and Michelle Kooper of Fayette County, Texas, the Kooper Family Whiskey Company is owned and operated by a small, hardworking Texas family.

After years of making whiskey together, Troy and Michelle let it all ride to pursue their dream and started the Kooper Family Whiskey Company.

Seven years later, their whiskeys can be found throughout Texas and their Fayette County tasting room hosts thousands of visitors a year. The work is hard and the hours long, but the Koopers have found their calling.

OUR PATH
FROM FAMILY TO CRAFTSMEN

Troy and Michelle are both skilled distillers who've spent many years mashing and distilling whiskey in Texas. As their whiskey making proficiency grew, they began obsessing more on the aging, finishing and blending aspects of whiskey making.

Today the Koopers scour the country looking for premium unaged distillates and hard to find orphan barrels to bring home to Texas to age, finish and blend into award winning whiskeys.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
OUR STORY
Everything that the Kooper Family Whiskey Company stands for can be traced back to the values and life of one man; Howard W. Paredekooper, our beloved grandfather. Born in 1922 and raised through the great depression, Grandpa grew up to epitomize what it means to be a hardworking, do-it-yourself American.

Grandpa provided for the seven children he raised by either fishing, hunting, or growing the food he put on their plates everyday. His children grew up to understand that if you want something done, you do it yourself and that it's your responsibility to carve the path in life you seek and no one else's.
THE LABEL
The Kooper Family Rye label depicts our grandfather Howard as a young man when he won the U.S. Armed Forces Light Heavyweight Boxing Championship in 1944. At just 22 years old, already a husband, father and soldier, he proved to himself what grit, determination, and a willingness to fight for greatness can achieve. Those values he passed down are the defining principles that guide our family and our relentless dedication to our craft.
Grandpa Howard honored by Bing Crosby after winning the 1944 Armed Services Light-Heavyweight Championship.
